WORKING DEFINITION

A CWS connects cognitive work to a governed decision and its operational consequences.

It preserves what was known, what was inferred, who had authority, which conditions applied, what was authorised and which future evidence should trigger review.

Models, agents and tools will change quickly. Roles such as Researcher, Skeptic, Reviewer and Decision Maker describe durable responsibilities that can be assigned to people, software or a combination of both.

Challenges assumptions and exposes uncertainty.

Tests whether the recommendation satisfies the decision contract.

A BOUNDED THESIS

Not every workflow is cognitive. Not every decision needs a CWS.

The architecture is useful only when cognitive work matters to a consequential decision. The MGDB provides a smaller governance boundary for cases that do not need the complete system.
